Copper Care: Sometimes copper can make our skin turn green. Many people believe this is what creates the healing properties that copper offers. The discoloration on your skin is easily washed off. If you love copper but prefer your skin to not turn green where the copper is touching it, simply use clear fingernail polish on the part of the copper that touches your skin. Over time the polish will wear off and when you notice your skin discoloring again, then it's time to reapply the polish.
Your copper will naturally patina and can turn anywhere from greens, blues or deep brown. If you prefer to slow this process, all you need to do is store your copper jewelry in a plastic bag. You know those little silicon gel packs that come with so many various everyday products that we purchase? Throw one or two of them in with your copper jewelry. These little packets absorb moisture which is what causes the oxidation, or tarnishing, or your jewelry.
