When left exposed to air, your copper jewelry will tarnish which means it will change color to include green, dark brown and sometimes even blue. Typically it will turn a beautiful shade of dark brown, almost like coffee brown, and if it turns green or blue, that coloration will show up in spots on the copper jewelry rather than turn the entire piece. If you would like to maintain your copper jewelry in its original state as much as you possibly can, store your jewelry in a plastic bag. It is the moisture in the air that causes this tarnishing effect. You can also put a silica packet in your baggy. These packets are included in many everyday products we purchase or can be bought online, too, for a reasonable amount. The silica absorbs moisture in the air. It is moisture that causes the copper jewelry to tarnish.
